Some Bad News

Subject: Some Bad News Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:22 pm

I got an email from Hesse today...Its not good. Due to personal issues and things going on in his life he is unable to host anymore. We are looking for a new host since i cant get a VPS due to Spencer stealing the money and My computer is far from capable of running it. As i type this the files are downloading and I need someone trustworthy. I know Danrules has a computer capable so I am going to be personally contacting him as he just got a new alienware Desktop.

Any and all support is appreciated....Craftopia will Not Die

P.S. I will try to run the server on my laptop but it will not be 24/7 and may lag

Due too financial problems I cant get it anymore (Dad lost job). I'm sorry Dan D: . But my B-day is coming up in March ill have some luck there. If I'm not getting alien ware for b-day I'm definitively getting new PC . So well see what happens ... Good luck and R.I.P.

well umm i am getting a new pc soon but it will be a lil after the 16th its a good pc but idk if it will be good unuf.

For now My computer seems more than capable of hosting. One issue is the LogBlock as cody hosted the SQL server as well if anyone knows anything about that kind of stuff please Let me know

Well,I just hope we can find a host soon though.
And frankly i can't downgrade mah minecraftz due to most of my sandbox map being all potions and grenades.

To run the game itself in Singleplayer it should be fine but hosting a server requires the amount you use*n (n= the number of players online) assuming every user is located in a different world chunk. One more thing, the amount of space on your Hard Drive doesn't count for jack all except back-ups because a server is all dynamic memory meaning RAM RAM RAM.

Im talking to Melonhead as he just built a new computer with Elenrai's Guidance and it has 8Gb of RAM and will easily be able to run the server...btw Guades I can tell you havent hosted a server before because each person doesnt need a lot of RAM...Its mostly the plugins that eat it up. IM running fine just giving the server 2 Gbs of ram

True, the player data doesn't need RAM but the world generation and display does. Can you safely say that 2G of RAM will be enough once someone builds anything redstone that's over a 2x2 door?

if we run it on my comp i need to tell you i cant have it open 24/7 and also i live in GMT+1 wich means not everyone will be able to login unless they are up till 4 in the morning

PS. its not coming untill Xmas wich means me hosting is a last exit if we can find a host and if we can afford one (meaning if we make some money during this month) we will try using the 24/7 host so it can be open for all at all times

How would you think how we'd earn some money while server is off? >.> People aren't really easy in donating these times, especially when the thing they'd donate for is off, and not even 100% sure to come up again.

For the good news:
Craftbukkit Dev's have finally released a "Recommend Build" working on 1.0(.1), which means plugin devs will now start making their plugins stable on those builds, meaning we can have a stable update soon (ofc, after we find a host).
